Focused training in one of the domains areas of Biotechnology during first Semester followed by second semester period of internship for direct hands - on experience in an industry set-up endows candidates with enhanced knowledge and domain specific skill-sets so as to be absorbed by their own internship host companies or similar companies elsewhere.

18 institutions are offering BiSEP PG Diploma course out of which 7 institutions are located within Bengaluru and 11 of them outside Bengaluru.

12 months – Two Semesters of six months each. First Semester is Course Work Program in host institution to get focused training in one of the sub-domains of Biotechnology. The second semester is internship in a relevant BT company for direct hands on experience in an industry set-up.

Masters degree (Life sciences / Biotechnology / Microbiology / Biochemistry / Bioinformatics or any other Life sciences related courses) or B.E/B.Tech. (Biotechnology/Bioinformatics) or Bachelor of Pharmacy / Agriculture / Veterinary or any 4 years degree courses in Life Science subjects.
The minimum marks for students belonging to SC/ST categories shall be not less than 40% and for all other categories it shall be not less than 50% in the qualifying degree examination.
Candidates who have appeared for their final exams can also apply but have to produce your final semester / year marks cards or computer print out of your online declared results or provisional degree certificate at the time of counseling and also submit your final semester / year marks card before BiSEP course commencement.

The process of admission to BiSEP involves an online test Karnataka Biotechnology Aptitude Test (KBAT) followed by Counseling and Seat Allotment to select their choice of domain and institute based on the availability of domain and institute at designated place. No exchange or transfer is allowed thereafter for reasons whatsoever even if seats are available vacant.

Yes, it is necessary to take up Karnataka Biotechnology Aptitude Test (K-BAT) online exam.

KBAT online exam consists of 100 multiple choice questions to be answered in 60 minutes from the following subjects: General English; General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning; General Mathematics; Computer Science; Immunology; Cell biology; Genetics; Biochemistry; Microbiology; Analytical Techniques; Molecular Biology; Animal Biotechnology and Plant Biotechnology.

KBAT consists of 100 multiple choice questions to be answered in 60 minutes. The online test is open to eligible students across the country from any cyber center or with good home-based facility of internet.

No. Online registration fee for taking up KBAT is same for all categories of candidates.

No. Registration fee paid for taking up KBAT online exam is not refundable for whatsoever the reasons.

Yes, out of total 20 seats allotted to each BiSEP Host Institute; 10 seats are reserved for Resident Students of Karnataka & 10 seats for Non-resident Students of Karnataka. Reservations for students belonging to OBCs/SC/ST and Hyderabad - Karnataka regions are provided as per Government norms.

For the purpose of BiSEP “ Resident Student of Karnataka ” means -
(i) A student who or either of whose parents has resided in the State of Karnataka for a period of not less than 10 years preceding the qualifying examination.
(ii) A student who has studied in any one of the recognized educational institutions in the State for a period of not less than seven years preceding to the qualifying examination.

There is no option for the fees to be paid in installments.

A fellowship support of Rs.10,000/- per month to every student enrolled to the BiSEP subject to student having minimum 75% attendance for that particular month.
